We are Philipp, Yves and Luca — friends since kindergarten in Sursee. In February 2026 we visited the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory in Puriscal for the first time. We've been bringing Andrés León's cigars to Switzerland ever since.
What makes a Primos a Primos.
Andrés stands behind it
Andrés León is taking over Tabacos de Costa Rica from his father. Whatever travels to Switzerland under our name has his approval — we know him personally and write to him directly, not to a distributor.
Two years of lead time
Tabacos de Costa Rica buys its tobacco two years before production. What is rolled today was selected long in advance — that ties up capital and takes patience, but you can taste it.
Fairly paid
A worker at the factory earns around 1,000 dollars a month — far more than is common in Costa Rica. People who are paid well work for quality, not for quotas.
Costa Rica, deliberately
Costa Rica is among the most expensive countries in Latin America to produce in — it would be cheaper elsewhere. We produce there anyway: for the quality, the working conditions, and for Andrés.
